The Travel Palace, also called the Mobility or Outer Environment Palace, shows your experience when you step beyond the familiar: travel, study or work away from home, moves to new places, dealings with the public, and how you adapt in changing surroundings. It does not only mean physical trips; it also describes your social exposure, visibility in the wider world, and whether outside environments tend to support, test, or drain you. In reading this palace, look first at the major star and its brightness, then at supporting or difficult companions, the Four Transformations, and whether the palace receives help from the San Fang Si Zheng pattern. Its opposite palace is the Life Palace, so the two always speak together: the Life Palace shows your inner character and natural stance, while the Travel Palace shows how that character is received and expressed outside. A strong harmony between the two often points to ease in public life and movement across settings; tension between them suggests a gap between private temperament and outer demands, which becomes an important theme to manage consciously.
When the Travel Palace is empty
When the Travel Palace has no major star, it does not mean travel or life outside home is unimportant. Read the opposite Life Palace first, because it reflects strongly into this axis, then judge the three-directional support, the palace stem’s Four Transformations, and any auxiliary stars present. In practice, an empty Travel Palace often means your outer-world experience is shaped more by context, timing, and the stars across the axis than by a fixed style of its own.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Travel Palace only refer to literal travel?
No. It includes literal travel and relocation, but also your experience in the wider world: public life, study or work away from home, unfamiliar settings, and how others respond to you outside your private circle.
How important is the opposite Life Palace when reading the Travel Palace?
It is essential. The Life Palace shows your core temperament, while the Travel Palace shows how that temperament functions in outer conditions; reading them together reveals whether the world outside feels aligned with your nature or asks you to adjust.
Is a strong Travel Palace always better than a strong Home or Property side?
Not necessarily. A strong Travel Palace often means you gain more through movement, exposure, or external networks, but the best reading depends on the balance of the whole chart, especially how the Life Palace, Travel Palace, and their supporting palaces work together.
