Questions
Is this a real Chinese name?
Yes. Family names come from the list of common Chinese surnames and given names from a curated list of names Chinese families actually use. We never string random characters together.
How is the family name chosen?
Chinese names for foreigners usually borrow the first sound of the family name, like Smith becoming Shi. Korean and Vietnamese family names already have Chinese characters, so we use those.
What does the element have to do with it?
In Chinese tradition, a name can balance the five elements of your birth chart. We count the elements in your birth date and favor a character whose radical carries the one you lack.
Can I use it for a tattoo?
Many people do, but please show it to a native speaker first and use the exact characters on your card. A tattoo is permanent; a second check costs nothing.
