What is Zi Wei Dou Shu?
Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数, Purple Star Astrology) is a Chinese astrology system from the Song dynasty. It places over a hundred stars into 12 palaces — life, career, wealth, love and more — using your birth date and hour, then reads how they interact.
Why does my birth hour matter so much?
The hour decides which palace becomes your Life Palace, and every other palace follows from it. Two people born on the same day but two hours apart get different charts.
What is the Life Palace?
It is the centre of the chart: your character, natural style and direction. The major star sitting there is the single most quoted part of a Zi Wei reading.
How is Zi Wei Dou Shu different from BaZi?
BaZi (Four Pillars) reads the balance of the five elements in your birth date. Zi Wei Dou Shu maps named stars onto palaces of life, so it describes personality and each life area in very concrete images. Masters often use both.
I don't know my birth time. Can I still use it?
Yes — choose “Not sure” and we draw the chart for noon. Treat the Life Palace as provisional until you confirm the hour.
